Don't break that lease

Breaking a lease hold interest can cost you plenty. A couple of weeks ago I was fortunate enough to be chosen on a jury in Georgetown. The case was extremely difficult to preside over because of all the dates associated with it. The Plaintiff's case was looking to settle a lease hold dispute dating back to 1994 and extended through 2014.

After the closing arguments were complete it became clear the the Plaintiff was seeking almost $500,000 in damages. Inside the jury room it was evident most jurors were looking to give him the farm (so to speak). After four long hours of bickering we settled close to $300,000 in favor of the Plaintiff. Please be advised to your lease hold obligations before signing a lease, it could cost you plenty.
